Did you sing the headline like we just did? It’s okay, we won’t tell anyone. FRIENDS! Chiropractic care is good for your entire body from the feet up. Today we’re going to talk about how your posture can help you feel healthy or not so well. We won’t waste time dipping our toes in; let’s jump right into it! Here are some reasons why chiropractic care is good for the body!
HEADS UP- YOUR POSTURE MATTERS!
Common causes of poor posture are things like stress, obesity, pregnancy, and even activities at work. When you are slouching, looking down at your phone and keyboard, or bending over to lift things all day, it can result in back and neck problems.
This happens because, in these positions, your body parts are out of alignment. When this happens, it also can place additional tension (up to 200 lbs) on your spine. Don’t worry- it’s not just you. At least 80% of the world will experience back pain at some point in their lives according to the American Chiropractic Association. This is why it is important to learn good posture.
SHOULDERS BACK- WHAT DOES GOOD POSTURE LOOK LIKE?
In general, it means having both of your feet grounded to the floor with your knees and legs in alignment, keeping your feet shoulder-width apart. Your shoulders are open, the head is held high, and your back is straight. In a seated position, it is important to have proper support for your lower back and a comfortable seat with adequate cushion to take the strain off of your spine. Again, your feet are planted and your back is straight with your shoulders back.
Now, this may feel uncomfortable at first because the majority of us are so used to slouching, but in the long run, you are reducing the risk of back problems and body pain.
If you are experiencing back or neck pain, a common solution is to see a chiropractor. Our job is to get your body back into alignment by relieving the tension between your bones and your joints. The experienced team at Be Well Lifestyle Centers can help you find pain relief in natural, holistic ways through chiropractic care.
FEET FORWARD- HOW DO YOUR FEET STEP IN?
Your feet are the foundation of your body. Like that of a house, this foundation supports the rest of your body’s important joints and, if not properly taken care of, can contribute to overall body pain more often than you may realize.
Your feet have multiple functions but one of the major ones is absorbing shock. When your feet are improperly supported, it results in your joints absorbing the shock from each step or jump. This harsh impact can cause severe joint pain in your knees, through your spine and even into your neck. Because of this, it is critical that you understand the needs of your feet and how they should be properly supported.
